Wifisfuneral releases new album ‘PAIN?’

Tackling a new musical direction, wifisfuneral delivers an emotional outpour of personal triumphs and tribulations on his new album PAIN?. The South Florida artist has pivoted to a softer, tender sound with equal parts singing and rapping as part of his newest artistic evolution. Melding his signature crisp bars with melancholy ballads that show off his vocal range, wifi exudes a softer sound than we’ve come to expect from him; but, he delivers the sentiment with such ease it feels like he’s been doing this all along. Singles like “End of Story” and “Lost In Time” ft. Coi Leray perfectly capture this new vibe, as wifi’s emotional delivery builds an atmosphere to get lost in.

Alongside the album, wifisfuneral has also released the music video for “Lost In Time” ft. Coi LerayDirected by Silver Spoon, the video is an expansive head trip, focusing on wifi and Leray as they travel across exotic locations in search of one another. They exist in the same space, but they can’t seem to exist at the same time.

Although PAIN? is wifi at his most experimental, you can feel his connection to the ’90s and ’00s rap he grew up memorizing the lyrics to – he still brings the quickfire bars he’s best known for. Spitting rapid, cerebral flows, the 23-year-old rapper crafts infectious hooks and expresses the deeply-felt emotions reflected in his lyrics – see “Ocean,” “Screw Up” and “Day Switch.” One thing to note – wifi has elected to only have 3 features on the album (Coi Leray, Smoove’L, and Mariah Angeliq), making PAIN? an insulated depiction of who wifi is at this very moment. Personally, I’ll be shoulder shruggin’ to “Backache” and wiping tears to “All In” all weekend.
