Burning The “Radio”

Kory Burns returns to the airwaves with “Radio”, his seductive new R&B pop track about inviting that special someone home to put nothing on… but the radio. It celebrates being single, doing who you want, when you want and how you want.

“We had a lot of fun recording the song,” Kory says from his South Florida home. “I flew Sean McMillion in from Atlanta, who has worked on every song I’ve released, and I finally got the chance to work with Carlos Battey who I have wanted to collaborate with for some time.”

Producer and writer Sean McMillion is best known for his work with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Snoop Dog. Carlos Battey is an award-winning songwriter/producer. He won a Grammy for his dance remix of Madonna and David Guetta’s “Revolver.”

“I’m so happy with the final product,”  Burns continues. “Radio is fun, flirty; exactly the sound I was going for.”

The song is a complete 180 from his previous record, “Follow the Leader.”

“I never really stick to one theme in my music,”  Burns explains. “I have songs about love, religion, my parents… I just go off of whatever I’m going through in the moment.  ‘Follow the Leader’ was a personal song with a very strong message and this one is, well, not. It’s more upbeat and feel good because that’s what the world needs right now.”

He says he was inspired to write the song from his years hosting parties at Miami nightclubs. “There were those nights where you would see someone and just think, ‘I wanna take you home right now!’ So you try and sometimes it would happen and sometimes… anytime I tried, I succeeded,” he laughs.

Kory Burns grew up in South Florida, the only child of a single mother. He was mentored by Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Betty Wright who passed away in May.

“Working with Betty was a blessing,” he reflects. “She taught me things you can only learn from experience and I really tried to absorb everything that I could. We had so many incredible moments together. I truly believe Betty’s watching over me from heaven.”

Kory Burns’ “Radio” is being released independently and is available now on Apple Music, Amazon and all other major retailers, as well as for streaming through Spotify.  For more information, follow Kory Burns on Instagram @ KORYBURNS and Facebook @ KORYBURNS1.
