Legendary Street Artist RISK On Working With Monster Energy, How He Finds Inspiration For His Art, Michael Jackson & More

Based in Corona, California, Monster Energy is the leading marketer of energy drinks and alternative beverages. Refusing to acknowledge the traditional, Monster Energy supports the scene and sport. Whether motocross, off-road, NASCAR, MMA, BMX, surf, snowboard, ski, skateboard or the rock & roll lifestyle, Monster Energy believes in the core of what its sports, athletes and musicians represent.

Monster Energy has partnered with legendary street artist RISK in launching 2 new additions to its line of energy-infused, flavor-packed juices: Juice Monster Papillon and Khaotic. To celebrate the launch, Monster will be giving away a one-of-a-kind “Khaotic” classic car designed by RISK to one lucky winner on December 15, 2020. Monster is also offering 50 lucky winners unique Juice Monster backpacks. More information of these giveaways is online at www.monsterenergy.com/juicecar.

Commented Kelly “RISK” Graval: “Partnering with Monster on the Khaotic & Papillon launch has been an amazing opportunity. Khaotic represents West Coast style with its vibrant juice and energy blend so I wanted to incorporate those elements into the Khaotic car and can designs. Khaotic and Papillon are bright and colorful and I really had fun creating all these pieces with Juice Monster.”

RISK’s extensive list of credits goes back to 1980s Los Angeles, following a Louisiana upbringing until middle school. He quickly went on to work on the music videos for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ice Cube, Bad Religion and Michael Jackson, beyond the film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. More recent projects of RISK include the largest public mural in Canada, the album cover for blink-182’s 2019 studio album (in addition to a lyric video for one of the album’s songs), and painting done at the 2020 NFL Super Bowl. In the words of Aerosmith: “RISK is to art, what Aerosmith is to rock & roll.”

On October 20, 2020, I had the pleasure of speaking with RISK via Zoom, as embedded below. Additional information on RISK and his various projects can be found online via www.riskrock.com, www.facebook.com/RISKROCK, www.twitter.com/ogrisk and www.instagram.com/riskrock.
