SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio to Host Live Special Spotlighting “RADical Hope”

SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio will host a two hour live special highlighting the new RADical Hope collaboration between NYU Langone Health and New York University on Tuesday, November 10 from noon to 2:00 pm ET.

Coupled with the social distancing required by Covid-19, emotional isolation has reached an all-time high and young adults are faced with high amounts of stress, grief and uncertainty about the future. Partnering with RADical Hope, NYU Langone Health introduced a program designed to teach resilience and address the mental, physical and emotional building blocks to better navigate difficult times of transition.

Focused on the emerging crises of disease and despair, the program will discuss the growing rates of depression, anxiety, substance abuse disorders, and suicidal thoughts and offers resources for youth and adults. Thisspecial edition of Doctor Radio’s “The Psychiatry Show” will be hosted by Dr. Charles Marmar, MD – Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Director of the PTSD Research Program at NYU Langone Health and the Lucius N. Littauer Professor of Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Co-hosting will be Dr. Lenard Adler, MD – Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Psychiatry, Director of the Adult ADHD Program at NYU Langone Health and Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Special guests include Dr. Linda Mills – Vice Chancellor and Senior Vice Provost for Global Programs and University Life. Dr. Mills oversees student life and strategic planning at New York University. Dr. Naomi Simon, MD – Vice Chair for Research Faculty Development and Mentorship, Department of Psychiatry, Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Director of Anxiety and Complicated Grief Disorders at NYU Langone Health.

In addition to this special live program, SiriusXM will create additional long and short-form programming addressing mental health and resilience, depression, anxiety and well-being, and will focus on symptoms and locating resources for support and assistance.

The RADical Hope campus wellness program was established in 2018 by Pam and Phil Martin in honor of their son Chris who died a year earlier by suicide during his junior year of college. Like many young people today, Chris experienced periods of profound emotional isolation and lacked the outlets to express his struggles. RADical Hope addresses America’s mental health crisis with our youth today by building resilience in young lives and works with proven, frontline personal programs that deliver on its core priorities: connectivity, empowerment, emotional regulation and engagement.
