Southern Rock Band Stone Senate Cast a Modern Crusade For Love

“Medicine will conquer all”, a heart wrenching authentic line from Stone Senate’s second incredible single Slow Crusade. Taking a strong step away from their previous release Whiskey Helps (over 100,000 Spotify streams), which was a country rockin’ anthemic tune that light-heartedly hailed Whiskey as a therapeutic heartache cure, Slow Crusade takes a deeper strum into a more serious and raw side about self-doubt, personal healing, and our own emotional battles. It toes between the lines of country and roots rock.

From the first note, a strong Metallica “Nothing Else Matters” vibe is established with the perfectly constructed intimate melody and a harmonious blend of beautiful darkness found within the lyrics. With every line, the band takes listeners on a slow and real expedition toward healing. Finding distractions among menial things such as “fixing the pictures on the wall”, the band acknowledges that we all must eventually come to face our own unavoidable truths. By referring to the healing process as a crusade, Stone Senate gives the song a deeper meaning than most of its kind. They aren’t searching to avoid problems as most tend to do, they are reaching inward toward a greater sense of understanding oneself.

Lead singer and songwriter Clint Woolsey shares insight on the message saying, “This is about going out of your mind and doing all you can to stop, or at least slow, the painful process of loss. Climbing walls, staying stoned, and fixing pictures on your walls to pass the time a little more. “It’s a slow crusade against myself” because you keep replaying the failed relationship in your head even though you would give anything just to forget it and make the pain go away.”

Producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Körn) adds “[Slow Crusade is] a beautifully crafted, haunting song that grabbed my emotional heartstrings the first time I heard it.”

Clint utilizes his dynamic vocal range to fluctuate the audience’s emotions, drawing them in and zoning them out of their daily routine. This latest single from Stone Senate is a reflection of where many people stand today, somehow stumbling through another day, wearing yourself out way too soon and wondering if the darkness will ever lift.

Stone Senate is proving themselves to be more than your average heartbreak band through their raw lyrics and diverse releases. Be on the lookout for haunting visualizers in both a lyric video and performance video and make sure to follow Roll the Dice Records’ upcoming artist Stone Senate.
