DC native, Lom Mazi, takes us to LA in his latest music video, “Watch My Ops”. The video, directed by Ahlyia Rios-Lopez (Purpose Media), has the rapper caught living a dual life as an ice cream man to the community but truly operating more than that on the down low through his business on wheels. The video takes place in beautiful Los Angeles as his local neighborhood route is putting on a street party filled with beautiful dancers, friends, kids and classic cars. “Watch My Ops” via Moyne Music follows Mazi’s last EP, Most Wanted.

“Watch My Ops stands for my everyday life being in the streets, making music and being an artist. The video was shot in Los Angeles which brought in a completely new experience. The lowriders and street dancers brought a vibe that made it authentic to the west coast. The two worlds on the ice cream truck stand true to the life I have lived.”- Lom Mazi

Two bucket list items: A Grammy and a heavy weight belt. Separate worlds that live hand in hand in the life and career of rapper LOM Mazi. Born DeMario Brent in 1998 to famous former WBO light welterweight world champion boxer DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley and his wife in Washington D.C. Mazi has had a life that was far from easy and was forced to grow up quickly. One of 12 children, Mazi has always known what it means to take care of others and those pressures have always been a difficult weight to carry. Mazi, used that energy and channeled it into boxing, and at the ripe age of 17 he went in for his first professional boxing match where he KO’d his opponent. Unfortunately, Mazi had a few run-ins with the law that forced him to put his boxing career on hold.

Left to his own devices, he took his hostility, work ethic, and creative drive and allowed it to manifest into an EP called ‘Most Wanted.’ After gaining some momentum on this EP Mazi released ‘While You Wait’ the following year and was simultaneously going through the tribulations of an arrest on a gun charge. Not allowing this to derail him and being clearer and more focused than ever, Mazi is continuing to create music that balances between hard-hitting and guttural, along with songs that are club ready and sensual. Grabbing inspiration from stars like 50 cent and Lil Wayne, along with local names like Q Da Fool, Rico Nasty, Wale, and Fat Trel.Mazi is paving a unique path for himself that allows him to rise above the noise and he’s rapidly on his way to checking off those bucket list items.
