0Claire Rosinkranz On Her “6 Of A Billion” EP, Musical Influences, Creativity, Hobbies & More
Southern California singer, songwriter, ballerina and multi-instrumentalist Claire Rosinkranz has been credited for combining “Gen-Z coming-of-age experience” with “quirky D.I.Y. soundscapes,” as often cooked up by her dad in the garage. Within a year, the 17-year-old phenomenon has eclipsed over half-a-billion total streams and received widespread acclaim courtesy of Rolling Stone, Variety, Coup de Main, Buzzfeed, and Genius alike. OnesToWatch championed her as one of its “Top Artists To Watch in 2021,” while New York Times and Billboard named her breakout anthem “Backyard Boy” among “The Best Songs of 2020.” Along the way, Rosinkranz collaborated with the likes of Jeremy Zucker, Role Model and Clinton Kane and made fans in Olivia Rodrigo, Tai Verdes and Lexi Jayde.
Claire Rosinkranz’ sophomore EP, 6 Of A Billion, is set for release on July 9, 2021 via the Universal Music Group’s Republic Records. Even before the song officially dropped, the EP’s track “Boy In A Billion” had already stirred up widespread buzz online as a TikTok of Rosinkranz writing “Boy In A Billion” raked in over 4 million views. Views aside, Rosinkranz had welcome her social media followers into the song’s creative process as many fans witnessed the recording of the song via her social media accounts. Another recent single, the aforementioned “Frankenstein” — its music video is embedded below from YouTube — was streamed more than 5 million times less than a month after its initial release.
On June 16, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Claire Rosinkranz via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond her forthcoming EP and recent singles, we spoke about her creative process as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, musical influences, future touring plans, her supportive family, and hobbies outside of music.
