Montreal Songstress Erockfor Oozes Confidence on ‘Sacral’ as She Continues Her Healing and Rebirth Process

Hey I’m on the bandwagon of Erockfor, she’s a flat-out powerhouse and one of the voices I believe we’ll be listening to for decades at least. She’s one to watch for this generation and beyond…check out the official line on her latest release Sacral below:

Following the rave reviews and support for her last two singles ‘I Thought You Loved Me’ and ‘I Don’t Want You Back’, which chronicled the Montreal songstress escaping her abusive and adulterous marriage, EROCKFOR [pronounced eh-ROCK-for] is continuing her healing and rebirth journey leading up to her debut album PHOENIX, which arrives in October. The sexy and confident ‘SACRAL’ is the next offering from the upcoming album, and it comes on the back of recent support from the likes of Flaunt Magazine, Earmilk, Ones To Watch, Exclaim! Magazine and MEFEater.

Written by the Canadian Cameroonian native Erockfor and produced by LA-based electronic musician Blaire Michael, ‘Sacral’ is named after the sacral chakra, which is the core of emotions and feelings, and it represents a very important forward step in Erockfor’s healing journey. Centred around themes of pleasure, divinity, creativity and sensuality, and driven by Erockfor’s exquisite vocal performance and vivid songwriting over a dark and brooding alt-pop musical backdrop, ‘Sacral’ captures all the things Erockfor has had to relearn about these themes, on her journey to healing and rebirth after leaving her toxic marriage.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Sacral’ and how the song came together, Erockfor says, “A few years into my move to Korea, I started doing burlesque and that gave me so much confidence. It made me feel sexy, and it’s an energy I channel during my performances. ‘Sacral’ is a sexy song but it’s also a divine song, and as I explore on the track, those concepts aren’t mutually exclusive. I wanted the song to feel celestial while also giving off the feeling that you’re skipping through a forest, noticing every fruit and leaf along the way – a sensual, God-filled experience”.

After spending six years in Seoul, Erockfor has come full circle and is now back in her hometown in Montreal, where she has been working on her debut album, which explores her journey between the events that caused her to escape to Korea and where she is now, over a genre-bending fusion of sonic beds from jazz and pop to soul to afrobeats and house music. With a very distinctive voice that has brought comparisons to Cyndi Lauper, Macy Gray and Amy Winehouse, Erockfor’s creative outlets also extend beyond music, as the Canadian Cameroonian native is also revered as a burlesque performer, actress and published poet.

Phoenix, the debut album from Erockfor arrives in October 2021, and she will be releasing a new single every month in the lead up to the album.
