Teletubbies’ Icon Tinky Winky Takes Over New York Fashion Week

WildBrain’s Teletubbies kicked off their Fall 2021 world tour in the Big Apple! Ahead of the iconic children’s brand’s 25th anniversary in 2022, the Teletubbies have launched a full- scale campaign that celebrates their unique and historic connection with big hugs to fashion, art and music, bringing joy and a sense of nostalgia to Gen Z – the original Teletubbies fans – and the rest of the world alike.

During New York’s Fashion Week, Tinky Winky, the tallest and most fashionable Teletubby (he’s the purple one with the red handbag!), partnered with some of the industry’s brightest and most creative designers and tastemakers, including Christian Cowan and VFILES. As the fashion world made its most anticipated return to in-person events since February 2020’s shows, Tinky Winky was an exciting and welcoming addition to the long-awaited fashion season.

Serving as Tinky Winky’s mentor, beloved Gen Z designer and pop culture phenomenon Christian Cowan opened up his backstage and behind-the-scenes operations to give the loveable Teletubby a first-hand sneak peek of his New York show.

“I have enjoyed welcoming Tinky Winky to his first New York Fashion Week,” Cowan said prior to his Friday evening show. “We have a lot of exciting things planned for 2022 and cannot wait to share what’s next for Tinky Winky and the Christian Cowan brand.”

Tinky Winky made the rounds to New York City’s most iconic destinations where he was fully immersed in the industry’s busiest time of year, not to mention the most fashionable. New York City not only served as the kickoff locale for this season’s shows, but also as a real-life runway for the over the top street style looks of fashion notables.
