Sticking To TheGirllcodee

Please introduce for me the members of TheGirllcodee…

Bigga: I’m Sha fucking Bigga..

Siddity: – excuse my friend y’all  lol! I’m Hiii Siddity.

Both: And we’re THEGIRLLCODEEE!

Tell me your whole inception into music — When did you all first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for TheGirllcodee?

Biggaa: I didn’t grow up in a musically inclined household like Siddity did, so interest in music came from watching battle rap in 2010.

Siddity: Facts! My dad’s love for music rubbed off on me. And Girllcodee actually started after us doing a freestyle over Busta Rhymes’ “(Put Your Hands) Where My Eyes Could See.”

You all are natives of where exactly? And growing up there, who all did / do you consider to be your strongest musical influences?

Both: BROOOKLYNNNN!

Biggaa: When I FIRST began rapping, Remy Ma was my musical influence because of her cadence, punchlines and aggressive style.

Siddity: Shitttt, growing up I always wanted to be a girl version of Biggie Smalls. I loved and still love Notorious BIG; the whole Junior Mafia and Foxy Brown.

Where does the group’s monicker originally derive from?

Biggaa: The name “GIRLLCODEE” was given to us by the CO’DEEZ – our supporters – after the freestyle over Busta Rhymes’ beat went viral.

In having said that, how do you all classify your overall sound and / or style?

Siddity: Our styleeee is likeee…if Maya Angelou, Biggie Smalls…

Biggaa: and Chip Skylark (from Fairly Odd Parents)…

Siddity: had a baby!

Biggaa: Our style is sooo impeccable that the woodpeckers can’t peck through this good wood.

Siddity: SHITTIN’ MEEEE!

What particular string of events actually led to your initial linking up with AG (of Show & AG fame) who is now y’all’s manager?

Siddity: Mannn, that viral video!

Biggaa: Facts! That ONE video opened up a lot of doors for us, and meeting A is one of ‘em. That’s our dawg!!

Now let’s hop right into this latest single, “Whoa” — Tell me about this particular track; how did it come to fruition?

Biggaa: YOO it’s crazy you ask that, ‘cause we was on our way into the studio and our friend started trumbling down the stairs!! 🤣🤣🤣 and everybody said, “WHOAAAA,” and this bitch Siddity started rapping.

Siddity: And then you joined in, stoppp it! 🤣 Then we had a whole hook before we started recording…the rest just came naturally.

Of course “Whoa” comes courtesy of your forthcoming debut LP — That being said, what all can you all reveal and / or divulge about upcoming said body of work?

Biggaa: Only thing I could reveal is that it’s fire! “WHOA” WILL be on there, and we’re stuck between two names.

Siddity: We also finally chose and agreed on a set tracklist. AND Girllcodee want the people to know that we put our heart, souls & pens into this shit!

Switching gears here…

Longevity, what do you all feel will ultimately be the key to your longstanding success?

Biggaa: Bringing AUTHENTIC Hip Hop back, and what Hip Hop / rap actually means.

Siddity: THAT! And just us staying consistent, working hard, staying on each other backs like we already do…being each other motivation.

What do you all want people to get from your music?

Biggaa: I want them to know we’re all human. Niggas go through shit and get through shit, too.

Siddity: Deadass! And you just gotta live life to the fullest, have fun and not give a fuck about what nobody say.

On a more serious note, are you all happy with the current state of Hip Hop? And even more specifically women in rap?

Siddity: Happy with the CURRENT state of Hip Hop? Nah, because it evolved into something else. I do got a handful of rappers I got in my playlist though.

Biggaa: To be honest, we support all women who’s grinding and not stopping ‘cause practice makes perfect. However, I feel like we’re the best doing this shit.

Do you all have any other outside / additional future aspirations, maybe even completely away from music?

Biggaa: Yeees! I wanna own 3 restaurants; one in NY, ATL and LA.

Siddity: – Yeah, ‘cause she gets busy with the eats!

Biggaa: A laundromat and a bodega!!

Siddity: Mann, I wanna go back to college one day so I can open up a psychiatric site because mental health in our communities is deadass a real thing

To date, what has been your greatest career achievement(s), at least thus far anyway?

Siddity: Firstly, just even chasing my dream with my friend is an achievement to me; being able to experience shit that people go through alone, I get to go through with my diary.

Biggaa: First off, y’all, we was on Ebro in the Morning!!! S/O to Uncle Ebro! We love him; that was big for us! Going from recording in bedroom studios to recording in famous studios…and that’s it ‘cause I could go on forever, but we’re humbled.

One track of yours that you all think defines you all and why?

Biggaa: Y’all haven’t heard this, but I feel like our song “BROOK-AA-LIIIN” definitely defines us.

Siddity: Naaaah, I feel like “LOCK US DOWN” defines us . That’s the unreleased heat, too! We can’t wait for the public to hear what we got in the vault and get to know us.

Finally, what’s next for TheGirllCodee?

Both: PROJECTS!!!

Biggaa: The EP coming, and a lot more visuals; we gonna make sure y’all see us more.

Siddity: Features and shows; GirllCodee goin’ crazy!!!

Is there anything I left out, or just plain forgot to mention?

Biggaa: Tuh! Forgot to mention we (the) best rappers out right now, but we gucci!

Siddity: We just wanna let everyone know you can find us (everywhere), THEGIRLLCODEE; don’t forget 2 Ls never (forget) the 2 Eeeees.

Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?

BOTH: Be safe and stick to the codee, CLEARLYYYY!
