Sam Richardson & Ben Schwartz (Stars Of Apple TV’s “The Afterparty”) Speak With The Hype

The Afterparty — the murder-mystery comedy series from Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe Award winners Chris Miller and Phil Lord — will launch globally on Friday, January 28, 2022 on Apple TV+ with 3 episodes, followed by 1 new episode weekly, every Friday. The 8-episode first season stars Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Jamie Demetriou and Dave Franco. A genre-defying series centered on a murder mystery at a high school reunion, each episode of The Afterparty explores a different character’s account of that fateful evening, all through the lens of popular film genres and unique visuals to match the storyteller’s perspective.

Miller, who created and directed The Afterparty, serves as showrunner and is executive producing alongside Lord through the pair’s production banner Lord Miller; prior Lord Miller successes include Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and The Last Man On Earth. Tony and Emmy-nominated writer, producer and performer Anthony King executive produces the series. Lord Miller’s SVP Of Television Aubrey Lee is a producer on the series, as produced for Apple by TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television as part of Lord Miller’s overall deal.

On January 13, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with both Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz via Zoom, as embedded below. More on The Afterparty can be found by clicking here, here and here.
