Lord Finesse Remixes Barry White’s ‘Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up’

Barry White’s iconic worldwide smash “Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up” has received a special remix treatment by legendary rapper, hip-hop producer, and founding member of the influential collective Diggin’ In The Crates Crew (D.I.T.C.), Lord Finesse. “Never, Never Gonna Give Ya Up (Bossmen Remix).” In addition, there’s a seven-minute-long extended version of the track as well as an instrumental version that accompanies the remix released for Valentine’s Day, a quintessential holiday for “The Godfather of Bedroom Soul” (Rolling Stone). All are out via UMe.

About Lord Finesse:

In 1989, Lord Finesse (born Robert Hall, Jr., on February 19, 1970) and his former partner DJ Mike Smooth signed to Wild Pitch Records. In 1990, the duo released their debut album The Funky Technician (which featured production from future star beat-makers DJ Premier, Diamond D and Showbiz). Soon after, the popular New York underground crew D.I.T.C., an acronym for ‘Diggin In The Crates’ was formed, together with Showbiz & AG and Diamond D. Future members included Fat Joe, O.C., and Buckwild.

Finesse returned as a solo artist in 1992 with his second effort, Return of the Funky Man. Return of the Funky Man also included a couple of songs that were produced by Finesse himself, and this would be the start of a career as a much-respected hip-hop producer.

He finally returned as an artist in 1996 with the now rare 12″ single “Check The Method” and then the acclaimed album The Awakening. Which featured the Single “Hip 2 Da Game” Finesse produced the entire album, and enlisted a large number of guests.

In 1997, he produced the track “The Message” on Dr. Dre’s album 2001 and in 1999 he provided the vocal sample on the hook to the International Smash “The Rockafeller Skank”, by British musician Fatboy Slim from his album “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby”.

Finesse is currently working on more projects due in 2022.
