0Dizzy Wright Teams up with DJ Hoppa and Chris Webby on Western Rap Ballad “Outlaws”
Las Vegas rapper and owner of clothing brand Still Movin, Dizzy Wright is an independent artist with a penchant for smoking weed and outworking the rest of the rap industry. Dizzy’s latest single, “Outlaws,” is the latest in a series of collaborations released this year with LA producer DJ Hoppa. To switch things up on this third single from their upcoming album Dizzyland, the duo enlist Chris Webby to form a band of “Outlaws” in a show of force.
Dizzy delivers sharp, witty verses over Hoppa’s production, with Webby providing a melodic hook that’s borderline criminal. A funky take on a country western track that sounds like it could have been played in Django Unchained, “Outlaws” plays into the fearless swagger of the lead characters in a spaghetti western, violence and all. The Webby intro is the most soulful way to sing about robbing a saloon with a revolver, and Dizzy hits with a couple verses reminiscent of a sundown fade out from a dust bowl standoff:
“I’m out of my mind, down the slide like bobsleds
Running from me, you better be using God’s legs
Pardon me, I’m just supplying this written history
Measured by the size of the standing army that’s defending me”
“Outlaws” tells the story of a trio of brigands from the future who come with abilities superior to the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Dizzy’s leadup to “Outlaws” being a collaboration with Xzibit on “24 Hours” and Man Like Devin on “Promoter,” he is taking the rap game by storm this year with something to prove. The stoner rapper has seen success throughout the years with his 2013 mixtape “The Golden Age” debuting at 39 on the top R&B/Hip Hop albums chart and a slew of successful albums released afterwards; this year he comes to prove that he is not yet finished hitting the tops of charts.
