Michael Anthony On The Growth Of Mad Anthony’s Cafe, Hot Sauces, Van Halen, Future Plans With Sammy Hagar & More

As one-fourth of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductees Van Halen, Michael Anthony is in rare company when it comes to influential and successful rock bassists. Yet Van Halen is only one facet of Anthony’s career, as he has also found success as a member of Chickenfoot and Sammy Hagar & The Circle. As if that were not enough, Anthony has also earned accolades via his Mad Anthony line of hot sauces.

2022 is yet another busy year for Michael Anthony as he — with Sammy Hagar & The Circle — has been part of an on-going residency in Las Vegas, beyond having upcoming Summer 2022 tour dates alongside George Thorogood & The Destroyers. Meanwhile, The Circle has a new studio album slated for release this year, and the aforementioned Mad Anthony recently relaunched one of its popular products. All the while, rumors are swirling of future Van Halen-related activity and whether or not that involves Anthony; Van Halen recently announced the re-release of the band’s first 6 albums.

On April 14, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael Anthony via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond the past, present and future of Mad Anthony’s Cafe, we spoke about Van Halen’s early days, his future plans with and without Sammy Hagar, and whether or not he will ever write a book. More on all things Michael and Mad Anthony can be found online by clicking here, here and here.
