Izo Vilaj de Dye Uses Music to Escape His Violent Environment

Izo Vilaj de Dye is one of Haiti’s rising stars who was born in Port Au Prince a Haïti. The Haitian musician grew up in an extremely violent environment surrounded by drugs, alcohol, and gangs. Growing up Izo always had a passion for music but it wasn’t until his peers recognized his talent and suggested that he take rap seriously. In 2019 his songs quickly became popular and started circulating around his high school. Realizing that he can distribute his own music and generate royalties for his work Izo Vilaj de Dye released his debut album and formed his own record label Level 5 Records.

Izo is heavily influenced by artists that fused Hip-Hop, and R&B like Fivio Foreign, Meek Mill, French Montana, and Kendrick Lamar. He uses his Haitian culture to create his own lane. The “Mafia Love” artist can rap in English or Haitian Creole which makes him stand out in the music industry. Izo Vilaj de Dye believes hard work and consistency can change your situation and wants to use his platform to also promote positivity and help the youth who lacks opportunities.
