It was a terrible night for sound at StateFarm Arena Saturday night. In spite of the sound and lighting challenges, each artist put on a great show! However, due to incredible delays throughout the show, fans were left feeling disappointed in the Atlanta R&B Music Experience hosted by Global Events Production. I was in the building and had the opportunity to experience this show in its entirety. In spite of the one-hour late start, an additional hour delay mid-show due to sound troubleshooting, a failing spotlight, and fans requesting countless refunds [post-show], I was beyond impressed at the level of performance and professionalism shown by each act. The night was filled with nostalgic music and endless surprises from iconic artists, groups and superstars like Lil Kim, Tamika Scott (Xscape), JohnJohn the “Falsetto King” (Silk), Day26, Athena Cage, King Combs, and many others, radio personality Greg Street also stepped on the stage to greet the crowd. DJ AONE held the crowd down and kept the party going all night long with some of Atlanta’s favorite throwback hits! The show kicked off with H Town and NEXT performing some of their biggest records, followed up by the group 112 who took the crowd on a ride through their musical journey, ending their set with their number 1 hit (over 30 million copies sold) “Peaches & Cream”. Tevin Campbell took the stage and brought back the nostalgia giving the crowd all the feels with his classics like “Can We Talk”. Followed by an energetic and heartfelt performance by Tamar Braxton, she gave us all the dance moves and powerhouse vocals for days! Finally, after an hour-long wait and the crowd chanting her name in anticipation, Monica took the stage in a chic white fur coat, later revealing a full black and white sequin ensemble by high fashion designer, Balenciaga. She performed all her greatest hits like Angel of Mine, So Gone, Love All Over Me, Still Standing, For You I Will, and many more.

The Atlanta R&B Music Experience was a night to remember for rhythm and blues enthusiasts around the world! For the fans that didn’t have the opportunity to get a ticket to this sold-out show, they will be back for their Holiday Edition experience here in Atlanta, on December fourth, featuring Bobby Brown, Xscape, Dru Hill, 112, Silk, and SHAI at StateFarm Arena. Tickets are selling quickly, be sure to get yours before they’re gone!
