Legendary R&B supergroup SWV changed the landscape of music in 1992 with their seminal, multi-platinum debut album It’s About Time, ushering in a new era of music that fused R&B with Hip-hop and Gospel in a way the world had never heard before.

On March 5th, SWV will embark on a new journey, inspired by their highly rated 2021 Verzuz battle, in the upcoming docuseries SWV & Xscape: Queens of R&B premiering on Bravo Sunday, March 5, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT. The six-part limited series will follow the multi-platinum R&B trio SWV as they prepare for an unforgettable reunion concert with 90s R&B quartet Xscape. The show will set the stage for SWV’s major year ahead, including plans for new music releases, tour dates and live performances, a biopic and more surprises to be announced!

In 1990, SWV (Sisters With Voices) was formed in New York by Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons. All three vocalists sang in church as children, where they learned their signature vocal harmonies that later became synonymous with the group in the 1990s. Grammy-nominated record exec Kenny Ortiz heard their early demo and soon after signed SWV to RCA. Ortiz introduced them to Brian Morgan who wrote and produced songs on their debut album, It’s About Time, which went double platinum within its first year of release. The album features hit songs “Right Here/Human Nature,” a Michael Jackson sampling remix credited to Teddy Riley (BLACKstreet, Guy) and “Weak”, both of which went to #1 on the R&B Billboard charts, and “I’m So Into You” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot R&B / Hip-Hop chart and was certified Gold. Their follow-up albums New Beginning and Release Some Tension were certified Platinum and Gold, containing hit singles “Rain,” “Someone,” “You’re The One,” and “Use Your Heart.” The 4 time Grammy-nominated group was honored on VH1’s “100 Greatest Women in Music” list, nominated for an American Music Award and Source Award, won the Soul Train “Lady of Soul” award, and landed #7 on Billboard’s list of Top R&B acts andt #2 on Billboard’s Top Selling/Airplay R&B Female Group of the 1990’s. SWV has found a new voice with today’s generation, organically amassing over 55K original creator videos on Tik Tok to date.

With a career that spans over three decades and 30+ million records sold, SWV remains a household name that continues to influence a new generation.
