Brittany Burton aka Bonnie Basét: From Renowned Journalist to Commencing Artist

Brittany Burton is an award-winning journalist who has found much success in her craft, having acquired bylines with major publications such as Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and The Source Magazine, just to name a few.

Since moving to Los Angeles last year, the Chicago native hit the ground running, leading her to interviewing some of the biggest stars in the world. Those include talent such as Erykah Badu, Chloe Bailey, MC Lyte, Kenya Burruss, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jordin Sparks and multiple cast members from Abbott Elementary.

However, she is far more being labeled as just a journalist. As a published poet since the third grade, she has always had a way with words, leading to a flourishing career. Taking it even further than just writing articles, her true passion has always been music, and Brittany has finally decided to go full throttle as a songwriter/artist.

Inspired heavily by fellow Chicago native and 10-time Grammy Award Winning singer Chaka Khan, as well as Prince, Toni Braxton, Shade, and Bobbi Humphrey, Burton looks to join her idols as a peer. Music is a form of healing and the same way it helped her as a consumer, she now aims to extend to the masses as an artist.

The artist Bonnie Basét is born.

After years of contemplating, she is now ready to take the leap of faith that she always dreamed of. Full of passion, original story telling and soul, she promises to utilize her musical gifts in the same way she does as a journalist; help others be seen and heard. Having overcome many hardships, and obstacles that led to triumph, she is looking forward to sharing her journey to music with the world. As we all know, something that cannot be denied is fate. This rising creative has discovered hers and she has no plans of turning back.

Stay tuned for Bonnie Basét’s debut single that is set to arrive in the latter part of the year.
