Known for their dark tangle of raw lyrics, honest and haunting melodies and voices upon voices upon voices, Sydney-based outfit Little May return with their highly anticipated single and video for “Home.” Produced by and recorded with Aaron Brooking Dessner (The National) in upstate New York, “Home” arrives as the first cut from their forthcoming debut album and captures an intensity now trademark of Little May’s music.

Recorded in the main hall at Future Past Studios – a converted nineteenth-century church in Hudson, New York, the video clip was produced by acclaimed videographer Tim Sessler (Brooklyn Aerials), known for the ground breaking short film “Moments.” While recording in the historic building the band drew inspiration for the video from the studio’s CCTV network, which allows producers in the basement control room to watch and communicate with those on the studio level upstairs. The studio footage is juxtaposed with vignettes depicting the concept of “Home” in various neighborhoods in New York and Brooklyn.

Little May on recording ‘Home’: “Home’ was one of the first songs we recorded with Aaron. It’s an old song, revisited. It had been written three years prior, from a place where a sense of belonging was being constantly chased. I think we will always associate this song, and this whole album, with Hudson and the time we all spent there.”

In the US, Little May has played alongside the likes of Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes, and The Flaming Lips on the Gentlemen of the Road tour, before their performance at Bonnaroo Festival. The act also played a string of headline dates in Philadelphia, Nashville and New York, including a show with indie alt rockers, The Vaccines. Having spent a significant amount of time overseas over the last 12 months, Annie Hamilton (bass), Liz Drummond (guitar/vocals), and Hannah Field (guitar/vocals) are continuing to play sold out sets across their home turf in Australia, as well as the UK, Europe and the US. Their May & June 2015 tour saw them selling out their London show two months in advance alongside a packed Paris performance plus a string of UK dates. The outfit will also be performing at Reading / Festival and Leeds Festival later this year.

Little May have acquired a fast-growing fan club of international tastemakers since releasing their debut EP late last year. With tracks such as “Boardwalks,” “Hide,” “Dust,” and “Bones,” the three-piece have acquired over one million Soundcloud plays, 8 million Spotify streams, topped the Hype Machine charts three times, and enjoyed airplay and support across Triple J, community radio, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, XFM, and Amazing Radio. The EP broke the Top 50 chart at college radio in the US and received accolades from many outlets, including NPR’s All Songs Considered, who tipped them as a “top discovery”.
“The band’s dark-tinged folk-rock has definite pop appeal – breathy vocal harmonies, hooky guitars, and sweeping arrangements abound. There’s a cinematic beauty to this music….. The results are like First Aid Kit with a splash of Haim’s swagger.” – Stereogum
“Little May have become one of Australia’s most buzzed about bands, drawing comparisons to First Aid Kit, Fleetwood Mac and Haim. Now, they’re poised for an explosive debut in the States.” – Billboard

“Organic production complete with saccharine vocals and an infectious blend of anthemic guitars and drums.” – Pigeons and Planes

“Their sound is smooth and evocative with songs that flow between intoxicating guitar melodies, haunting vocals and uplifting vocal beats.” – Harper’s Bazaar UK
