#InOurPrayers – NY Gov. Cuomo Staffer

Carey Gabay – a member of our administration – was shot in Brooklyn,” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo stated in a press release this morning (Sept. 7). “I ask that New Yorkers join us by keeping him, his wife Trenelle and his family in their prayers at this time.”

Around 3:30 a.m., Harvard graduate Carey Gabay was shot in the head in Crown Heights, Brooklyn during pre-Labor day festivities. Gabay reportedly got caught in the crossfire of a nearby gunfight while walking with his brother on Bedford Ave. In January he was appointed as Cuomo’s first-deputy legal counsel for his economic development agency. “This tragic shooting – this one by another seemingly random bullet – is the latest heartbreaking reminder that the crime of gun violence must stop,” Cuomo added. “Enough young, innocent people have died, and it must stop now.”

The 43-year-old is currently in critical condition at Kings County Hospital. According to NY Daily News, Gabay is on life support and doctors are currently preparing to harvest his organs.

Several others have been injured and killed during early-morning Labor day celebrations throughout Brooklyn.
