Stepping literally out of the back-line of a GRAMMY-nominated crew led by John Legend, to take center stage in his own right comes the amazingly talented producer, songwriter, entertainer Bizkit who along with his partner in music Butta. The duo make up the production powerhouse Philly Phatboiz who solidified some space in the serious music community with a GRAMMY nomination and Soul Train Award in one fell swoop!

The first warning shot across our bow from Bizkit was a cinematic visual to his debut single “Acquired Taste” a fun and colorful intro to the artistry of the crew:

The Official line on Bizkit’s journey reads like this:

The four-time GRAMMY-nominated producer Allen “Bizkit” Arthur was born and raised in the city of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia, PA). In the 4th grade, he decided to pick up the saxophone. After a few short months, Bizkit had his first concert, and he immediately knew he had a love for being on stage.

Years later Bizkit while in the jazz band at CAPA (the High School for Creative and Performing Arts), he met Keith “Butta” Justice. The two hit it off musically and never looked back.

After high school Bizkit went straight into the music game, performing live and taking studio work in horn sections for various artists. His horn section “UHornz” got the chance to work with Rodney Jerkins and his producers.

From those sessions with Jerkins, Bizkit got a taste of what being on a hit record feels like, by playing sax on “Deja Vu” by Beyonce’.

Shortly after, Bizkit auditioned for John Legend, made the band and toured around the world with Legend for seven years.

How did the connect with Legend happen?!

Legend’s brother Vaughn Anthony was also on tour and in the process of working on his album. When the tour stopped in Tokyo, Vaughn invited Biz to the studio to write with him and Legend.

John offered Bizkit and his crew (Philly Phatboiz) a publishing deal after taking notice of the team’s drive, hunger, and talent.

The new team’s first significant placement was “I Miss You Now” by Ledisi. Shortly after, L.A. Reid heard the Philly Phatboiz produced song “Tonight (Best You Ever Had)” by John Legend and immediately knew he had to use it for the movie “Think Like a Man.” Reid loved it so much that he placed it in the movie six times and the song won the Ashford & Simpson Songwriters Soul Train Award and a GRAMMY nomination.

The latest imagineering from Bizkit’s team has produced what might have ignited a re-emergence of music just for fun again. His latest single “420” caught the ears of Jamaica and he’s headed off shortly for a major press junket in the region.

Bizkit and his partner in music, Butta, dropped by The Hype Magazine office to talk about Bizkit’s expansion into a center-stage entertainer, his new hit single “420”, upcoming press tour to Jamaica, domestic appearances as well…tune in!

Bizkit performing live June 1, 2018, at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles opening for the new Pop/R&B phenom Eric Bellinger. Tickets on sale here.
