Lyft launches complimentary recording studio for drivers at its Atlanta hub

Lyft, the nation’s fastest-growing rideshare service, today announced a one-of-a-kind initiative: a recording studio in its Atlanta hub. The studio is available free of charge to any Atlanta musicians who also drive with Lyft.

“The story we hear from our drivers, over and over, is that driving for Lyft gives them the flexibility to pursue their dreams,” said Sam Bond, general manager of Lyft southeast. “We want to encourage and celebrate that with our driver community.”

Lyft’s Atlanta hub, which is located near Howell Mill Road, is a place for drivers to relax, ask questions and participate in the Lyft community. Lyft’s drivers give approximately ten million rides per week nationally.

Lyft has plenty of reasons to celebrate. The launch coincides with the one-year anniversary of Lyft’s launch of the Atlanta hub. The brand believes transportation lies at the heart of a community.  To date, the company has 12 hubs around the country which provide a physical location for drivers to be onboarded, ask questions, connect with the local Lyft team, and meet fellow drivers.

And just for fun, the Atlanta’s office’s conference rooms are named after Atlanta artists. If you take a call from a Lyft employee, they might be calling you from the  “Ludacris” room.

“Atlanta has a hip-hop history and a scene unlike any other city,” said Bond. “It makes perfect sense to open something like this here.”

This initiative is unique to Atlanta; however, the rideshare company has celebrated its talented drivers in the past. Lyft’s Chicago team created a special Spotify playlist featuring only Chicago Lyft drivers, and the Detroit team has partnered to create an intimate concert space for the Lyft community in that city as well as access to recording space.

The Atlanta hub’s new driver-only recording studio launched on June 30. The hub is located at 814 Bellemeade Ave NW.

Lyft celebrated the launch of the Atlanta hub’s recording studio with an exclusive party for its driver community on June 30.

As a special surprise, Atlanta-based, platinum-selling and award-winning rap artist Yung Joc performed several songs.

Two talented Lyft drivers also performed at the event. Female hip-hop duo Kin4Life and solo artist Shawn “Shawn Don” Gordon each performed several songs for an audience of their fellow drivers.

“Performing at this event really gives me an opportunity to be heard,” said Gordon. “Driving for Lyft allows me to make connections with people and share my music, one passenger at a time.”

Beyond this stellar lineup, the launch boasted one-of-a-kind activities for drivers. Famed Atlanta street artist Dr. Dax tagged baseball caps for attendees, and drivers had the opportunity to make unique vinyl artwork to take home.

When musicians weren’t performing, Atlanta’s DJ RockMost worked his magic on the turntables, and the multi-talented artist D.R.E.S. tha BEATnik served as the event’s official host.
