After spending the majority of 2018 recording, indie-rock quintet Stuck In The Sound has announced its fifth album, Billy Believe, and shared its first single and music video, “Alright.” The action-packed new music video was written and directed by Clément Desnos, who previously collaborated on the band’s video for 2012 single “Brother,” and completes the trilogy of animated videos the group has released dating back to 2012. Stuck In The Sound’s Billy Believe is set for release on March 1, 2019, via Upton Park.

Comprised of members José Reis Fontao, Emmanuel Barichasse, Arno Bordas, Romain Della Valleand François Ernie, the band’s first big break came when their debut single, “Toy Boy,” was featured in French culture magazine Les Inrocks’ compilation series, CQFD.Suddenly, “Toy Boy” was playing everywhere and Stuck In The Sound began performing shows all over Paris. In 2006, the band signed to Discograph and went on to release their debut album, Nevermind the Living Dead. They embarked on a 100-date tour that took them through some of the biggest festivals in France, during which time “Toy Boy” got picked up by Guitar Hero: World Tour.

After the tour, Stuck In The Sound traveled to Bordeaux where they wasted no time getting started on their next album. A few weeks of rehearsal later, the band went straight to Vega Studios to record what would become their sophomore album, Shoegazing Kids. Mixed by Nick Sansano (Sonic Youth, Public Enemy), their second full-length attempted to capture the emotions and experiences of early adolescence with tracks such as “Beautiful Losers,” “Teen Tale,” and “Gore Machine.” Shoegazing Kids was met with praise from critics everywhere and set the stage for a massive European tour.

After several years of recording and extensive touring, Stuck In The Sound decided to take a break and spent time in Montréal building their own recording studio, BEAM!. They shut themselves away in the studio and spent an entire year writing the follow-up to Shoegazing Kids with producer Romain Della Valle. These sessions would mark the beginning of a new chapter for Stuck In The Sound that resulted in their third album, Pursuit.

Released in 2012, Pursuit found Stuck In The Sound moving away from the chaotic bluster of their previous albums in favor of more melodic, yet increasingly diverse compositions. The band would also add Della Valle as a permanent member on the back of his work on Pursuit. The album’s first singles, “Brother” and “Let’s Go,” became instant viral sensations thanks in part to their incredible animated music videos that matched their anthemic new sound. “Let’s Go” has since racked up over 50 million views on YouTube.

The band refused to slow down as they continued to chase new inspiration on 2016’s Survivor, retooling their sound to take on a more pop dimension. Since then, Stuck in the Sound have shown signs of returning to their roots and released two non-album singles. The band then returned to the studio where they spent most of 2018 recording what would become their upcoming new album, Billy Believe – out March 1, 2019.
