0Exclusive: Sons Of Silver Premiere “Down” Video Via The Hype; Q&A With Singer Peter Argyropoulos
Sons Of Silver is an American indie-rock band from Los Angeles. The group quietly attracted an impassioned fanbase, worldwide under its previous name Pete RG. Following a pair of EPs — 2016’s Lightning Strikes and Reaching For The Moon — the full-length album Tender Souls album was released in 2017. Tender Souls would go on to garner critical acclaim from Impose, Blank TV, and Elmore Magazine.
The group — comprised of vocalist/guitarist Peter Argyropoulos, keyboardist/vocalist Brina Kabler, lead guitarist Kevin Haaland (formerly of Skillet), bassist Adam Kury (Candlebox bassist) and drummer Dave Krusen (original Pearl Jam drummer) — has toured extensively across North America and Europe. After two years on the road, the sound of Sons Of Silver evolved, as did its identity. In turn, what began as a solo project evolved into a true band with a distinct and cohesive sound.
The Hype Magazine is proud to premiere a filmed live performance of the Sons Of Silver song “Down.” Below is Q&A with Peter Argyropoulos about “Down,” while more information on Sons Of Silver can be found online via the band’s official website at www.sonsofsilver.com.
Thanks for the opportunity to premiere your new video. How long did you spend making it?
Peter Argyropoulos: The recording and video were made in a couple of hours. We had a day off in New York City while on tour last week and figured we’d put the time to good use. Our friend and unofficial sixth member of the band, Dean Dichoso, produced and mixed it. Those are normally Brina’s duties, but she was playing keys. Anthony Fernandez shot and edited the video. It’s a live performance. We did a couple of takes and I think we used the first one. It’s good to do capture moments like this when on the road because the band is in “performance” mode. Everything was done at The Bunker recording studios in Brooklyn. Great studio and great staff.
Do you have a highlight from the video-making experience?
Peter Argyropoulos: Yeah, the pizza. Williamsburg Pizza. Amazing. We waited until we were done recording before digging into the pizza. That’s why we got things done quickly. It was sitting there in front of us and we were drooling.
Video premiere aside, what is coming up for you and the band in 2019?
Peter Argyropoulos: An EP in September and a lot of touring to follow. I’m sure there will be a bunch of unexpected good stuff, too. Probably more of that than anything because that’s how this business works.
