MRG Drops Third Single “The Way It Goes” From Upcoming Album

On Friday, MRG, released “The Way It Goes”, the third single from his debut album Live From the Hurst 2, set to drop on October 4th.  Featuring guest vocalist Kevin Cruz and produced by DJ Mostwanted (credited on Young MA‘s smash hit “Ooou”, etc.).

The track taps in to the dancehall culture that recently made an impact on trap music and echoes the rappers Latin roots. It’s a summer song for the club that shows the complex ends-and-outs of temporary flings. “This song is about the personal experience of being a woman’s rebound,” the rapper said. “She was only looking for some short term fun– probably to get over an ex –but I eventually grew feelings for her. She realized how good of a catch I was after cutting me off, and wanted something more, especially after hearing the music I made. However, I had already moved on – that’s just the way it goes.”

Last week he released “Feels” and the week before that he dropped the video for the song “Brokenhearted”, produced by multi-platinum producer Superstaar  who’s worked with 6ix9inePnB Rock, Chief Keef, and more.

The Dominican-American recording artist said that making the song was one of his favorite moments throughout his career. “My favorite session of all time…was when DJ Mostwanted and I made [‘The Way It Goes’]. We made the whole track from the lyrics, melodies, and recording in less than 24 hours. It was spontaneous as hell, but it’s now my favorite song by myself to date.”

With influences from Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, J Cole, and Nas, MRG‘s unique musical style fuses his caribbean heritage and New York roots. Rhyming in both English and Spanish since 2014, MRG dropped his debut project Live From The Hurst in December 2017. The six-track EP features “Like I’m Lonzo,” a  DJ Mostwanted production in which MRG raps about disrupting corporate control over artists and athletes.

Surprisingly, the rapper graduated with a Bachelor’s in Management Information Systems and worked as an IT consultant for a global firm before he made the move to pursue a music career. After getting the chance to make music with some heavy hitters while he was a teen, the performance bug had him by the neck. In the summer of 2018,  he ditched the corporate world to focus on music full time. “Having the opportunity to get on a song with DMX and Swizz Beatz when I was in high school was a big confidence boost for me,” MRG told us. “Opening up for Wiz Khalifa at Villanova’s Hoops Mania was also something I’ll never forget.”

With Live From The Hurst 2 due this Fall, there’s no question that MRG is on his way toward being the next King of Queens. Click below to listen to “The Way It Goes”, available to stream and download on all major platforms.
