Rising 12tone Artist HEX Releases Official Music Video for “Paranoia,” Next Installment From Forthcoming EP.
Genre-blending and bursting with charisma, Nottingham talent HEX is firmly established as an underground tip that deserves to gain wider recognition. Today, the rising artist releases the official music video for “Paranoia,” the next installment from his forthcoming EP.
The visuals artistically represent his ‘paranoia’ – through the abandoned apartment, the suspicious characters and pills all over the floor, we see a man struggling with vices while trying to deal with desolation, deceitful people and literally running away from his own thoughts and current situation.
In a compelling tale of loyalty, cynicism and the fast life of being in the music game, “Paranoia” brings vulnerability and unabashed flex while incorporating HEX’s reputable slick wordplay. Drawing you in with a lilting guitar sample before bursting into bass-heavy, trap production, HEX’s melodic vocals unify the track in a way that validates the serious interest around him right now. Check out the official visuals below:
With the kind of sound that’s undeniable in potential scope, some of the most acclaimed producers in the scene have been quick to jump in the studio: BricksDaMane (Drake, Young Thug, Lil Wayne), Grammy Award winner, CBMix (Chance the Rapper, Kanye West, Lil Pump) and 2 x Grammy Nominated producer & 808 Mafia member Purps (Juice WRLD, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Migos.) giving an idea of the young star’s reputation. A feature on English indie-rock superstars alt-J’s 2018 album REDUXER – on well over 30M streams – also mark his versatility.
Previous releases “Inferno” and “Blow” have lined up HEX for a massive 12 months ahead. With tastemaker support coming from the likes of HUNGER, WONDERLAND, CLASH and NOTION plus the momentum of a successful US run, HEX looks set to continue to define himself as one of the most exciting new names coming out of the UK.
Hailing from Nottingham, HEX’s patchwork of influences and experiences has made him the artist he is today. On one side of the family were the creators: his dad played in a band, while his uncle worked as a music producer in London. On the other side were the curators: his mother played a collection of varied albums through the house, alerting his ears to new sounds.
Where other acts meander around the surface level, HEX burrows into the core of a feeling, emerging from the depths with a distinct snapshot from the roots of an emotion. HEX feels like a quiet storm already building a big reputation.
Led by a big melodic chorus and a rolling, bass-fueled production, ‘Paranoia’ has all the ingredients he needs to take him to the top.”
“With guitar arpeggios and trap drums, the track has a laid-back feel but Hex isn’t taking it easy.”
– SURVIVING THE GOLDEN AGE
“Lyrically, HEX criticizes the superficiality of a field where instant gratification rules above everything else, but melodically he demonstrates his dexterity in using the industrial trend into his own advantage – that’s art ya’ll.”
