Rising Star Layton Greene Is Beating The Odds

During a recent private intimate performance for Pandora staff and media, we had the opportunity to catch up with Quality Control Music’s new R&B songstress, Layton Greene. The 20-year old siren shared candidly about her childhood struggles growing up as a bi-racial kid in poverty with a Mother who suffered from bi-polar depression. The aspiring superstar also suffered through a traumatic period of homelessness and sexual abuse.

Layton was determined to rise above her circumstances and pursued her GED while working at Walmart. Discovered shortly after sharing a viral video cover of “Roll In Peace,” the St. Louis native released her first independent single, “Myself.” This caught the attention of major labels, and granted her the opportunity to sign with Capitol Records.

Quality Control’s First Lady of R&B is a mature soul with a sultry and relatable sound that is sure to carry her well into her future in music. Layton’s performance at Pandora nearly stirred me to tears, likely due to a combination of her silky tone and being able to personally identify with her tribulations.

Greene recently released her emotionally-stirring debut EP, Tell Ya Story, which is available now on all platforms.
