Drewmula Drops Hot New Single “WANTING”

Forging a unique and distinctive path for himself in the UK R&B and afrobeats scene, Drewmula has seen a steady rise over the past couple of years thanks to a multitude of colourful and catchy singles that have blown up online. Now the South London-based artist has come to the fore with his latest single “WANTING”, a potent mixture of afrobeats, pop, and bashment.

“This is the first time I’ve created a track with a more up-tempo feel. I experimented with my vocal range more than I usually would and felt like this was a chance to show a different side to my artistry, the different elements I can convey in a song.”

Collaborating with Essex-based producer AP Beats, Drewmula crafts an energetic yet soulful track that pops with an irresistible afrobeats rhythm. Kicking off with a sultry chord sequence that sets the stage for Drewmula’s versatile vocal talents, he enters posing the tracks central question: “Baby tell me what you wanting?/Yeah I can give you vibes why you fronting?”. As the song progresses, an expertly processed vocal sample enters behind the beat, personifying the female character that Drewmula addresses in the song.

“My favourite thing about making music is seeing the reactions from fans/ listeners who have heard my music and seeing the daily messages from people who tell me how inspired they are by it. The process of making a song, seeing it all come together, there is no feeling like when you know you’ve made a hit.”

Drewmula is an artist on the rise. After previously collaborating with heavyweights such as VEVO, Capital Xtra, and Link Up TV and playing such London institutions as XOYO, Reprezent Radio, and Birthdays Dalston, the young artist has set his sights on stardom. With a music video for “WANTING” forthcoming, and a EP in the works for early next year, Drewmula looks set to make 2020 his own.
