R&B Songstress ROE Craves Vulnerability in New Music Video For “Wanna Be”

Rising R&B songstress ROE puts us in our feelings with “Wanna Be”, her new captivating single with accompanying visual.

“Wanna Be” interpolates the iconic Brandy’s debut 90’s single “I Wanna Be Down”, bringing a new unique energy to the original. The sexy record dives into the deep feelings you get when two souls are bound and you just need to be with that someone.

“‘Wanna Be’ is one of my favorite songs and videos. It’s sexy, relatable, and soulful. It reminds me of those crazy feelings like when a high school crush was the end-all, be-all. I really wanted to be vulnerable. We need a little more of that.” ROE

The Goldby7 (GIVEON) directed visual is shot in a delightfully classic throwback style reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s — when we laid belly-down on the bed phoning our crush for hours. Featuring a sizzling cameo from singer-songwriter Ant Clemons, the video makes us miss the simpler times of good old-fashioned romance.

Born and raised in Venice, California, ROE is a multi-talented artist and songwriter for Universal Music Publishing Group. The songstress boasts rich, mellifluous vocals and after years of working as a songwriter behind the scenes, she is ready to break out and step into her truest form. Her new music sees her blending rich, magnetic melodies reminiscent of classic R&B and the likes of Mariah Carey with bright, modern production that fits just right for the LA-native.

ROE has written for top artists such as Mary J. Blige, Usher, Normani, Kiana Ledé, Teyana Taylor, City Girls, Kash Doll, and more and has penned songs for hit TV shows like Empire and Star. She has also lent her talents in collaborations with artists such as Sachi, The Him, and most recently dance legend Tiësto, with even more big features to come. Furthermore, her collaboration with Sachi, “Sparking My Fire”, was recently featured in NBC’s hit reality TV competition show World Of Dance. She also performed at ASCAP’s 2020 Summer Showcase Series.
