Emerging Music Duo, WHOAA, Sums Up 2020 with Powerful Video “I Cry”, Cites Mariah Carey & Bone Thugs N Harmony as Inspiration

Rising R&B / pop duo WHOAA, comprised of Dolla and Ring, release a visually stunning, emotional video for their new song “I Cry.”

After getting the co-sign from Grammy Winning Artist Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony saying, ” I got chill bumps watching this video”. Bringing those retro-future vibes as WHOAA has trademarked, one can’t help but notice the honorable nod to Mariah Carey & Bone Thugs N Harmony‘s 90s Hit “Breakdown”. With 2020, being such a wild year with COVID-19 and many families losing loved ones to the virus, WHOAA felt the need to release a Song like this to provide inspiration and comfort. “It’s ok to cry, sometimes, we have to let it out for things to get better”, singer Ring of WHOAA states. This song hits really close for WHOAA, as they lost their long-time Recording engineer, Dan “the Man” Cohen of Atlanta, GA this past March, who actually recorded and mixed the song “I Cry” along with Ray Seay. Dan Cohen was well known in the music industry, having received Grammy nods with Musiq Soul Child, Billboard plaques with Justin Bieber, and served as a long-time personal engineer to accomplished producer Polow Da Don.

WHOAA is coming off a breakthrough 2020 year, after recently being featured on Ellen DeGeneres’ ELLENTUBE with their video “Candy Love,” and their latest offering “Pink Starburst” has been a standout on WHOAA’s social media, Youtube, Spotify and has since resonated within the LGBTQ community, and most recently premiered on WorldstarHipHop. This pop meets R&B/ funk throwdown features additional live drums and percussion from OutKast’s Grammy-Winning studio players Victor Alexander & Omar Phillip (Rest in Heaven).
