Sophie Egan Discovers A Mysterious “Someone To Meet” With New Single

Singer-songwriter Sophie Egan released her latest single “Someone To Meet” on January 26. The song was born from a guitar riff that her brother played on a whim. The sound sparked lyrics in the form of questions from Egan. “I didn’t know what the concept of the song was until Harry and I were almost done writing it,” says Egan. “The more we wrote, the more I understood the story in my own head.”

Egan’s brother Harry is her producer and co-writer. The duo collaborate on all of Egan’s music, and Harry is a major part of her creative process. The message behind “Someone To Meet” is relatable for all listeners, but it’s especially relevant in Egan’s life. ” I have met people and something told me I would know them for a long time, or that they would be important in my life,” says Egan. “I didn’t know why or how it would happen, but I knew how I felt. This song is about recognizing that feeling and deciding to do something about it.”

Egan says she envisioned spotting someone at a crowded party. From there, she realizes the mysterious partygoer is someone she needs to know. “It’s a strange feeling to describe or pinpoint, but I think that’s what makes the song so interesting,” says Egan. The enigmatic and echoey production simultaneously highlights the feeling of the unknown and familiarity within the track. “The lyrics are written like a conversation between two people, but I picture this person talking to themself,” says Egan. “Until they find the courage to walk up to the person and start talking.” “Someone To Meet” is available on all major streaming platforms.

Sophie Egan is a 19-year-old pop singer-songwriter from San Francisco, CA. Egan’s world revolves around writing and creating music while attending the University of San Francisco. She spent the last year focused on shaping her music into the art that she feels the most connected to. When Egan is writing or performing is when her true light turns on. “That’s when I feel the most confident and like myself,” says Egan. She has been writing songs since she was a kid, always finding a way to express the deepest of thoughts and feelings through words and melodies. Her creative sidekick and producer is her brother Harry. The two crank out songs like second nature and balance each other perfectly to produce craftful combinations of words and music. When Egan isn’t studying for class, she can be found scribbling in a journal or typing words on her phone that are destined to be turned into gorgeous tunes.
