‘Snowfall’ Renewed for Fifth Season at FX Halfway Through Season 4

Snowfall is the FX series that has taken the television world by storm. Set during the beginning and height of the “war on drugs” and highlighting the kingpin Franklin Saint and crew, this look at the world of a South Central LA cocaine cowboy

The Hype Magazine recently got the opportunity to attend an exclusive press event for the FX series which was an informative conversation. In attendance were the cast and producers, who related to us what it was like to film without having the late John Singleton, one of the show’s creators who is sorely missed.

Having the show manifest four seasons was not something actor Damson Idris who plays central character Franklin Saint foresaw early on. He was just hoping to get the pilot picked up and get it in front of an audience. Well, it DID get picked up and we’ve witnessed his character evolve into living legend status on the show.

The network renewed the 1980s-set drug drama for a fifth season today and the news comes halfway through season four.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The show is up 41 percent in total viewers from its previous season to average 5.1 total viewers per episode.

“Snowfall has come into its own as one of the best dramas on TV, its quality and audience growth is a remarkable achievement for a show in its fourth season,” said FX Entertainment president Eric Schrier states. “Damson Idris and our entire cast continue to deliver outstanding performances every episode.”

The current season is set in 1985 and follows a crew of dealers led by Franklin Saint (Idris) who are benefiting greatly from the rising tide of addiction, but are also starting to become aware of the damage the drug is doing to the people and to the place they love.

The series is created by John Singleton & Eric Amadio and Dave Andron and airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.

Absolutely looking forward to season 5 as season 4 is shaping up to be quite epic!!!
