Chicago’s Bianca Shaw Drops “Get A Real Job”

Bianca Shaw is a new find for me but she’s been making waves for some time now, garnering coverage from the likes of  Rollingstone and Billboard along the way! Signed to Taylor Bennett’s T.B.E Imprint this independent thinker has paved her own way as a standout artist with skills galore…meaning she’s a multi-hyphenate. Singer, songwriter, rapper, and drummer, Shaw is a mega-talent who is determined to do the damn thing without the politics of being sexual in her presentation.

Shaw’s sophomore project Get A Real Job is an experience that showcases full-length journeys and interludes that give a glimpse of her real-life interactions. I think what appeals to me most about this offering is the soul with which it is delivered, no pretense just damn good music shared with a purity of heart that welcomes you on a sight-filled cruise of musicality. Ok, maybe that’s too fluffy…bottom line is she’s dope and the music is fiyah…better?!

Personally, I’m on the intermittently rapid-fire Count Your Blessings which is track 6 on the project. Let me know your favorite!

More about Bianca Shaw

Born and raised in Chicago on the West Side, Bianca Shaw is a multi-talented artist.  She’s a singer, rapper, drummer, and songwriter who wrote her first rap at 11 years-old.  Bianca is heavily inspired by Missy Elliot’s authenticity and ability as an African American woman to sell music without exploiting herself during an era where so few prevailed without doing so.

Shaw’s ability to share such vivid experiences through her art led Kenneth Bennett (Senior Advisor at T.B.E & Chance The Rapper’s father) to coin her the nickname Spirit – “Because her songs are the cheapest flight you’ll catch to paradise”.

Discovered by Ken Bennett, Shaw was the first artist signed on to work with Tay Bennett Entertainment. She has been featured on huge media outlets such as the legendary Sway in the Morning, Rolling Stone, Lollapalooza, Windy City Live, The Jam and most recently, Good Morning America. Shaw has collaborated with many different artists including local Chicago favorites, Taylor Bennett and Twista on the So High remix, as well as Chance The Rapper and more.

After finishing a nationwide tour as main support for Taylor Bennett, Shaw joined Bennett on Good Morning America for her first nationwide TV performance – which XXL penned an article appraising.

Shaw’s first EP, Exhale, premiered on Billboard and Soundcloud where it was initially exclusively streamed.
