Eddie Griffin On His New Special “Laughin’ Through Your Mask,” His Vegas Residency, Writing & More

A prolific comic, actor and producer, Eddie Griffin’s career first kicked off in the early 1990s. With 50+ movie and television credits and numerous stand-up specials, beyond a multi-year residency in Las Vegas, few people in the comedy world have experienced commercial success like Griffin. And it seems like the best is yet to come from the Kansas City native, who has no shortage of projects coming up.

In his new “docucomedy” special Laughin’ Through Your Mask — which hits all key digital and on-demand outlets on Thursday, April 1, 2021 — Eddie Griffin reflects on a year of COVID-19, social distancing and social justice. Taped just 1 day after the violent attack against the 117th United States Congress at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, Laughin’ Through Your Mask is rooted in Griffin’s razor-sharp, unapologetic observations about nerve-touching subjects of today’s current events. Tickets for the world premiere of Laughin’ Through Your Mask are on-sale now for $9.99 exclusively at laughinthroughyourmask.com, while its trailer can be streamed below.

On March 30, 2021, I had the pleasure of interviewing Eddie Griffin via Zoom, as embedded below. We spoke about Laughin’ Through Your Mask, but also talked about Griffin’s early days as a comic and actor. More on Griffin can be found online at eddiegriffin.com and twitter.com/eddiegriffincom.
