Adobe and Netflix bring “The Great Untold” stories to life

Computer software giant Adobe and Netflix the world’s leading streaming entertainment service have come together for a multifaceted project that will give the next generation of artists a platform and the tools needed to create career-changing content. Adobe just announced “The Great Untold,” a new partnership with Netflix, where they’re giving emerging creators creative support, mentorship and a greater platform to bring their stories to life.

The Great Untold is a short film competition meets road trip, to head out into the world where stories are being lived and to capture them. Netflix believes that the concept of Hollywood isn’t tied to one specific geographical location.

Hollywood exists everywhere and in anyone, and these two industry giants are combing TikTok for the next generation of talent! Something no brands have done before – participants can pitch their story idea via TikTok or at WhatsYourGreatUntold.com until June 13th, 2021.

From there, three creative submissions will be selected and made into short films. Each creator will be given a $10,000 grant, access to Adobe experts and Adobe tools, including Adobe Premiere Pro video software, and be paired with a mentor to guide and inspire them through the creative process.

 The mentors will include:

  • playwright, filmmaker, and author David Talbert
  • producer, author and costume designer, Lyn Talbert, who co-produced Netflix’s first live-action musical, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
  • Ryan O’Connell, lead actor in the Netflix series, Special.

The road trip will make pit-stops at each winner’s hometown for a two-week production, with Netflix and Adobe supplying all equipment, tools and crew needed. Additionally, the short films from the creators will feature alongside a behind-the-scenes style docu-series that will showcase the creative process, documented by Nadia Hallgren, director of the Netflix Michelle Obama documentary ‘Becoming’.
