Karli Ryan Has an Anthem for the Ages

Former American Idol hopeful Karli Ryan is back with a brand new single titled “Young Girl.” Appearing across millions of TV screens in 2019, Ryan performed an original song and won over the heart of Luke Bryan, but was ultimately turned down by the other two judges. However, that was far from the end of her story. Rather than feel discouraged by her American Idol experience, Ryan was empowered. Rather than pursuing an academic career as many young people do, she doubled down on her music career. This type of drive and passion is what makes Ryan’s music so impactful.

Ryan’s latest single, “Young Girl” is a mid-tempo anthem that channels the introspective reflection that many don’t experience until well into their 20s. Ryan’s maturity at such a young age is reflected in this song, especially in the lyrics. “So don’t grow up too soon / just do you / while you’re young girl,” she sings in the chorus of the song. This is a message that has been delivered to us before in an anthemic song (see Avril Lavigne’s “Here’s to Never Growing Up,”) but Ryan’s take on this message with a country flare makes the song stand out even more. If this song is any indication of where Ryan’s musical career is headed, she has quite a bright future ahead of her.
