WanMor: Brotherly Harmony

First things first, please introduce for me the members of WanMor…

BIG BOY: Hi we’re WanMor and I’m Wanyá J. Morris II a.k.a. Big Boy,

CHULO: I’m Wanyá J. Morris III a.k.a. Chulo,

TYVAS: I’m Wanyá J. Morris IV a.k.a. Tyvas,

ROCCO: And I’m Wanyá J. Morris V a.k.a. Rocco.

Tell me your whole inception into music — When did you all first become interested in it? And, how did it all begin for WanMor?

BIG BOY: Our whole inception into music started with us as young as five years old, singing and dancing to old school jams as we did our day to day routines. A few years later, we started performing as a group at our birthday parties with hundreds of people attending. After receiving such great responses, our mom decided we should become a music group and formed WanMor.

Now you all are natives of…where exactly? So growing up, who all did / do you all consider to be your strongest musical influences? Your famous father notwithstanding…

TYVAS: We currently live in South Jersey.

BIG BOY: Growing up, we were highly influenced musically by MJ, Stevie Wonder, Chris Brown, Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Mint Condition, Usher, Ne-Yo and Beyoncé, to name a few.

That said, how do you all classify your overall sound and / or style?

CHULO: We say that we’re a Pop / R&B group.

From both a personal and vocal standpoint, what do each of you – individually – bring to WanMor specifically?

CHULO: Big Boy is the leader of the group, and brings a powerful sound that mirrors our dad’s tone.

BIG BOY: Chulo also helps keep the guys in line, and vocally brings a Chris Brown sound.

ROCCO: Tyvas is more laid back, and brings a silky-smooth sound to our group.

TYVAS: Rocco is the youngest, and very rambunctious. He brings that MJ tone and vibe.

Speaking of your dad, how much actual input / involvement does Wanya have when it comes to the overall hands on experience with you all and your music?

BIG BOY: Our mom has been the push behind us as our dad focuses on his own career with Boyz II Men.

Thus far, you all have made quite a name for yourselves with ur impressive covers of others’ big hits — At this particular point in time, are there plans firmly in place for some original music?

ROCCO: YEESSS!!!!

TYVAS: We’re working on original music in hopes to have a release in the near future.

ROCCO: We;re so excited, we can’t wait.

Switching gears here…

Longevity, what do you all feel it’ll be that’ll continue to sustain you all in music?

BIG BOY: We feel that in order to have longevity in the music industry, we must stay focused and continue to work hard perfecting our craft.

What do you all want people to get from your music?

CHULO: We want to be a part of keeping music alive by entertaining people all over the world.

On a more serious note, are you all happy with the current state of R&B music?

BIG BOY: We feel that the current state of R&B music can use more visibility.

Do you all have any other outside / additional aspirations, maybe even completely away from music?

CHULO: Outside of music, we’d like to do some acting.

The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo On HBO Max

To date, what has been your greatest career achievement(s), at least thus far anyway?

TYVAS: Our greatest career achievement was performing on major television shows.

CHULO: And singing the national anthem at big arenas; Madison Square Garden and the STAPLES Center.

Finally, what’s next for WanMor?

BIG BOY: Look out for our new original music.

Is there anything I left out, or just plain forgot to mention?

BIG BOY: We’d like to thank everyone that has supported us.

CHULO: Thank you HYPE for introducing us to your readers.

TYVAS: Follow us on Instagram @wanmorofficial.

ROCCO: Oh, and on Tik Tok @WanMor and YouTube WanMor.

Any “closing” thought(s) for our readers?

ROCCO: We’re looking forward to entertaining the world with our music. Look out for us!
