0Xpression Preserves the Hip Hop Culture and Makes an Impact in His Community
Xpression is an artist who aims to impact his community, peers, and his audience on social media by supporting local and national organizations. He has done volunteer work for the Alzheimer’s Association, American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, Desert AIDS Project, and a few others. In 2016, Xpression submitted a song/poem to “Riverside County Mental Health Arts Contest and was awarded honorable mention for his poem/song titled “Optimistic”.
Xpression is a big advocate for mental health because at the age of 15 he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He would use poetry as a way to express himself, and that’s how he came up with his name Xpression. As the years went on and his love for the culture grew, he adopted the name Xpression The MC.
Xpression The MC was also invited to be part of a focus group with other legendary Hip Hop artists including Kurtis Blow, Krayzie Bone, Bucano, and Tomica Wright just to name a few. Douglas Young a promototer with NWA invited Xpression to join the “Envisioning” focus group who works to preserve the past, present, and future of the Hip Hop culture and community. Preserving the elements of Hip Hop and founding fathers, and for the love of it all is important to Xpression.
