0Kurt Deimer & Phil X On The New EP “Work Hard, Rock Hard,” Future Touring Plans, Geoff Tate & More
November 19, 2021 marks the release of the Work Hard, Rock Hard EP by Kurt Deimer. Deimer’s debut EP features guitarist and key collaborator Phil X (Bon Jovi) and was produced by Chris Lord-Alge (The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Joe Cocker). On that same date, Deimer released the music video for his new single “Naïve,” the opening track of the 6-song EP. The video was directed by Paul Boyd (Sting, Deadmau5, The Cult). Currently on tour with founding Queensryche singer Geoff Tate, Deimer had released his debut single “Burn Together (featuring Geoff Tate)” over the summer of 2021.
Music aside, Kurt Deimer has filmed a feature-length movie aimed to launch his Hellbilly Hollow horror franchise. In the meantime, he recorded more than 2 dozen songs with the aforementioned Lord-Alge, and is co-managed by Andy Gould — the former manager of Rob Zombie and Guns N’ Roses — and current Stephen Pearcy manager Paul Gargano. Per Deimer, his artistic inspiration is “to make the world a better place, promising change instead of cataclysm and delivering hope instead of hubris.”
On November 18, 2021, I had the pleasure of speaking with Kurt Deimer and Phil X via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond Work Hard, Rock Hard, we spoke about future career plans for both Deimer and X, musical influences, and Van Halem. More on Deimer can be found online here, here and here.
