Chris Catlin Blends R&B, Hip-Hop, and Caribbean Sounds on New Track “OtherSide”

Prodigiously releasing an intoxicating mix of Hip-Hop and R&B touched with a hint of the Caribbean since 2018, Chris Catlin returns with his latest hit titled ‘OtherSide’. Drawn out of the sorrow of his own father’s passing, ‘OtherSide’ is a retelling of the narrative of loss through the eyes of a woman on the same journey.

Born in the Cayman Islands and moving to Florida at the age of ten, Chris’ music has always featured Dance/Afrobeat elements. However on this track, his approach is far more subtle as the subject matter demands a more spiritual attitude to the songwriting process compared to the more ebullient flavor of his usual work. Inspired by his sadly departed Dad, influenced by dancehall artists such as Collie Buddz and Popcaan, Chris also listens to jazz, country, Hip Hop and a whole host of other genres. That is clearly evidenced in all of his music as he explores the broad canvas of the artists he has lived his life through.

That deep reflection on his personal and professional experiences allows Chris to think positively on the grieving process to deliver a song that showcases invitingly warm vocals and laidback grooves. Dripping with meaning and pointing to a path of escapism to free oneself from the grieving process, Chris turns the sad into good, the grief into hope and the pain into joy.

Crest the horizon that Chris Catlin creates and discover a world that once tried, will never be forgotten. When you find that place, you will instinctively know that you have reached the ‘OtherSide’.
