DOM, Houston Based Singer & Music Artist Talks About Her EP “IRL”

Dominique Side is DOM, known as VgnBae around Houston, Texas. She’s a singer, songwriter, and co-owner of VgnBae Music Group. A fierce female voice for women everywhere, Dom is also a vegan fashion influencer with thousands of followers and ethical living entrepreneur with several businesses. Her Instagram accurately describes her as a vegan, artist, and boss.

Having been part of R&B and gospel groups in the Houston music scene, Dom’s latest work was a departure from those genres as she stepped into the spotlight with the EP “IRL”. She explained saying, “Even though this is my first effort in pop music, I’ve been here behind the scenes, except now it’s in a different capacity and I appreciate the experience.”

Her “IRL” release follows the journey of a woman pushed to the edge by a cheating partner. Produced by Dom, Drakkar Wesley, Freddie Allen Jr, and Anthony Hall at VgnBae Studios in Houston, the sonic storyline is dripping with bad b*tch energy that’s a total blast. The tracks mirror the stages of grief after the death of a relationship starting with “End Date”, where we find that love which is supposed to last forever, sometimes has an expiration.

From there we are launched off the deep end into the title inspiring “Crazy IRL”. Nothing short of a banger for breakups, it’s infectious, and a deliciously deranged anthem. Our dark and sexy joy ride continues with the hip-hop infused “Bag Talk”, which Dom describes as “braggadocious” and “the well sh*t I’m better without you feeling”. It plays on the idea of leaving your ex in your wake of success and money after you’ve moved on.

Followed up by “Man Eater”, Dom explained, “Man Eater is like listen I’m out here doing me, but if you’re interested new people, you gotta understand I’m not out here to lock it down again or be in a serious relationship, so I’ll gobble you up and spit you out.”

The final song “Know Me” is a beautifully produced picture of the broken and guarded state we’re all left in after having our trust trampled on by a partner, complete with an incredible R&B singing performance by Dom.

Start to finish, “IRL” is gloriously indulgent and a must listen for anyone who’s been damaged by a relationship, which is essentially everyone ever. This artistic conceptual EP is accompanied by an amazing video series for each song.

With more new music on the way this year Dom said, “I think the one thing people can expect from me is authenticity, I am navigating this journey for myself and I’m just excited to be here and share my music with people.” She also has an eco-conscious clothing line in the works.
