Los Angeles Based Rapper HYMN. Delivers the Cool With Blazing Single “Icee”

Los Angeles Based Rapper HYMN. gives us a glimpse of his diversity in his newly released song titled “Icee”. The new single brings a spacey trap jam with booming 808s that displays the artist adopting a subtle melodic-style chorus while his verse is still sharp and witty.
HYMN. brings a very impressive range with his flow, cadence, and tone fluctuating seamlessly between high and low. One could almost mistake “ICEE” for having a feature from another artist due to HYMN.’s dynamic range. HYMN.’s songwriting background is on full display here allowing the rapper to transition quickly and precisely.
The Pittsburgh, PA native has formerly went by the stage name J.Lloyd, he wrote for the likes of XXXTENTACION on the album Bad Vibes Forever.  While HYMN. is a rapper, the moody and smooth melodic elements scattered throughout are pleasant on the ears and don’t feel forced. This allows the track to breathe a bit and is a welcome addition to the HYMN.’s arsenal.
“ICEE” has many elements of a summer jam with lines such as  “Clap it up baby, clap it up. Don’t be shy, it’s fat enough”. Coupled with the thumping 808s and piercing bells, “ICEE” is an extremely fun summer vibe. Perhaps the best part of “ICEE” is HYMN paying homage to Hip-Hop legend Rob Base with the line “I wanna rock right now” in the chorus. This offers a nice juxtaposition to the new school flavor and flows throughout the rest of his song.
