Meet Lanetra King With Her Urban Contemporary Gospel Infused With R&B Flare Single SUFFICIENT

Sufficient was written out of feelings of unworthiness and condemnation. I was in my office at my desk just before midnight with a pen, notebook, highlighter and Bible in hand. It was at a time where I felt unworthy of God’s grace and that I didn’t deserve to be forgiven after doing something that God gave me many chances, yet I blew it every time, knowing it wasn’t right. The lyrics just came and the song wrote itself within an hour because of how strongly I felt in that moment. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 came to mind reminding me that God’s power is made perfect in my weakness. I then began to think about the oceans, mountains and the sky. If God can create such wonderful creations, then surely his grace is sufficient for me.

Lanetra King, a national publicist known to create buzz and major exposure for her clients is now stepping into the spotlight as a recording artist and songwriter with her debut single, “Sufficient” produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer, Songwriter and Music Publisher Jovan Dawkins. Finally taking her call to music, Lanetra’s new single sets a calming and inspirational tone that’s heavily needed during times of uncertainty. Influenced by 90’s music, she grew up listening to artists such as Aaliyah, Brandy and Joe. With a noticeable R&B flavor, Lanetra centers her music around messages of hope. The Charleston, S.C. Native grew up running around with a mic in her hand and playing an organ at her grandmother’s house. This would be the beginning stages of her exploring her musicality. Lanetra’s home state has been a launch pad for successful talent including James Brown, Darius Rucker, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Rock and Stephen Colbert. Cut from the same cloth, Lanetra is set to make her own mark with a refreshing sound across the airwaves.

As a member of an exclusive collective spearheaded by Grammy Award Winning Songwriter, Producer and Singer Eric Dawkins and Jovan Dawkins, Lanetra has been able to refine and cultivate her gift. Her accomplishments include collaborating on songs written for Award Winning Vocalist Chante Moore and RCA Inspiration Recording Artist Mali Music. Even though she’s had hands-on industry experience, she still serves as an integral part of the worship team at her local church. This propelled her to take a leap of faith into music while discovering her voice.
