YOUNG SHILOH: The Independent Hip-Hop Artist You Should Be Paying Attention To

From street hustlers rapping on the corners to classical students starting out their careers with more prominent labels, the rap industry has become the hunting ground for talent. There’s something about Young Shiloh`s music – his relatability, down-to-earth vibe, and rhymes – that makes it really appealing in a landscape dominated by trappers and ballers. In a landscape overrun with abstract indulgence and shallow trend-chasers, the Richmond VA artist has created a record that reminds you that it’s music before it’s hip-hop.

27-year-old Young Shiloh releases the impeccably crafted “Ricochet” his highly anticipated debut EP on May 15th, 2022. Heavily influenced by the Young Money Entertainment legends: Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga, his unique sound, delivery, and presence makes him fit right in the group, while still maintaining a distinct sound and feel. The swag-filled song finds Young Shiloh flirting with club bounce beats, sexy R&B feels fused together with raw emotions, and aggressively sharp wordplay and cadences. The EP meshes elements of electronic, drum and bass with a seamless skill that bodes well for the rest of his upcoming projects.

All I want to do is make music for a living so that I can live to make music. The only dreams I’m interested in are the ones I can grasp. It just so happens that anything you want bad enough can be obtained. Perhaps the world may never know of my accomplishments but accomplishments they are, nonetheless”.

The artist expressed the joy he felt sharing his material. “This is magic right here,” he said. “I really, really am happy just to be able to celebrate my music.” “I am big on metaphors and in inspiring my fans and supporters to think. It keeps it interesting. I am a song writer. I write my songs and help other artists with theirs. Hooks, verses, bridges, I do it all.”

The EP is a strong example of the burgeoning MC’s ability, with sharp lyricism, a harmonious cadence, and a mastery of mood.

Currently, studying Mass Communication at Old Dominion University and looking forward to his upcoming graduation, while balancing school, work-life, and pursuing his music career, the young MC will soon begin writing his follow-up project.
