0Trinidad Cardona On Recording “Love Me Back,” His Next Single, Def Jam, Career Goals & More
The odyssey of Trinidad Cardona began with the futuristic R&B single “Jennifer” in 2017. The viral hit scored over 12 million streams and over 53 million YouTube views. Its success led to his 2018 single “Dinero,” an ode to toxic romances with its Miami-flavored rumba horns and driving beat. The track revived phoenix-like in 2021, as a #1 TikTok Viral chart sensation with over 65 million streams.
As a newly-minted Def Jam artist in 2022, the back-to-back global successes of “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” — which launched the official soundtrack to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 — and follow-up “Love Me Back” have secured the artist his hard-won position on the front line. Trinidad Cardona’s debut album is on the horizon, yet even without that release, he has billions of streams to speak of. “Love Me Back,” as recorded in both English and Spanish, has over 3 billion streams on TikTok alone.
On August 10, 2022, I had the pleasure of speaking with Trinidad Cardona via Zoom, as embedded below. Beyond “Love Me Back,” we spoke about his next single, career plans beyond music, hobbies and Def Jam. More on Cardona and his upcoming album can be found here, here and here.
