Cliff Holt’s Debut Full-Length Album ‘Saturn’s Return’ Hits This Summer
Cliff Holt is among the new wave of Hip Hop artists pushing the limits of the genre. His sound is grounded in musicianship, and he is often seen with his guitar. Growing up in a small city outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, Cliff was influenced by gospel, 70’s soul, R&B, and jazz. Because of his peers, he grew up with 90’s Hip Hop and southern rap/trap music on repeat.
Being one of the main engineers in his hometown for a long time, Cliff was inspired to pursue engineering as a career. He had an opportunity to study audio engineering at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Science and was then set up with an internship with Chris Lord Alge, one of the world’s top mixing engineers. That opportunity allowed him to move to Los Angeles and hone his skills as an engineer/producer. This didn’t come without its struggles though, he had to overcome the day-to-day living in LA, not giving up while being homeless, not losing hope when he had been down to his last dollar, and pushing through when he hadn’t seen family for years.
After a small stint at a couple of the top studios in LA, Holt decided to focus on his own music company, the Kimloch Frequency and put all of his time into producing up-and-coming artists and making music for film. His debut album, Saturns Return, is set to release in June, and he is looking to change the perception of today’s Hip Hop and sonically take it to places it’s never been.
Cliff wakes up every day and continues to pursue his dreams because it’s all he’s got, and it’s the only thing that’s given him something to live for. He hasn’t yet had the success he imagined, but the pursuit keeps him excited and hopeful for another day on earth. Previous artists before him have been the only thing he’s had to get him through dark times, and he hopes to be able to do that for others.
