0“Crashing” Returns To HBO On January 14; Star Pete Holmes Celebrates In NYC
In anticipation of the season 2 premiere of the hit HBO series Crashing, New York City’s Gotham Comedy Club hosted a very special evening known as Crashing Live on January 9, 2018.
Led by comedian Pete Holmes, star and creator of Crashing, the intimate event featured stand-up from Holmes and four other comics. Interestingly, all of the comics who performed — Dan Naturman, Greer Barnes, Jamie Lee and Rachel Feinstein — have acted on Crashing, showing Holmes and producer Judd Apatow’s smart and refreshing stance on casting comics into roles that are both comedic and dramatic. Such helps prove how comics make excellent actors more often than not.
Generously, attendees of the invite-only show were treated to free Crashing-themed swag, including bottle-openers, koozies, and pins shaped like Holmes’ face. Just as generous, perhaps, was that Holmes performed a full set beyond hosting the evening as he was suffering from food poisoning. But surprisingly, those in attendance were not shown any episodes (or trailers) of the upcoming season as the focus of the evening was truly on fun, inclusive stand-up comedy.
Season 2 of Crashing — which will reportedly feature Artie Lange — premieres on HBO on January 14 at 10:30 PM, following the return of the Sarah Jessica Parker series Divorce. For those who never saw Season 1 of Crashing, the first episode can be streamed for free on HBO’s website.
