0Miss Richfield 1981 On Orbitz, Celebrating Pride, Palm Springs, Upcoming Projects & More
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, the riots that started the gay pride movement. More than 3 million travelers are expected to attend World Pride in New York City this June, and according to new data from travel site Orbitz, 80 percent of travelers are planning a trip for Pride this year. To share some of the top trending places for Pride and provide her own travel tips is the popular drag personality of Provincetown, Massachusetts: the one and only Miss Richfield 1981.
Miss Richfield 1981 is one of America’s favorite performers and drag personalities. Hailing from Richfield, Minnesota, this Midwestern maven combines homespun warmth and edgy improv to create a show that’s been acclaimed as “the must-see act in Provincetown” by The New York Post. Miss Richfield’s national appeal includes riotous appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Today on NBC, Cake Boss on TLC, and Watch What Happens Live on Bravo. Currently, she is part of the cast of Talk Show The Game Show on TruTV, and a television spokesperson for travel company Orbitz. Additionally, she serves as a national brand ambassador for the City of Palm Springs.
Orbitz was notably the first online-based travel company to launch a microsite dedicated to gay and lesbian travel, as done more than a decade ago. To celebrate this milestone year, Orbitz is reviving some of their best content with their long-time LGBTQ spokesperson, Miss Richfield 1981. Miss R. Travelers planning a trip to celebrated Pride destinations — including Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco and New York — can browse hotels, booking tips and itineraries using the new Orbitz Pride Travel Guide, which you can easily find online at www.Orbitz.com/Pride.
I had the pleasure of conducting Q&A with Miss Richfield 1981 herself, and embedded below from YouTube are video highlights from our recent April 2019 interview.
