Introducing Up and Comer Benjamin Reynolds

Benjamin Reynolds is a new pop/R&B singer/songwriter who just released his exciting debut single, “Slide.” The young lion is only 24 and is already making noise as his music is in rotation on select stations throughout the U.S. He is part Lebanese and hails from Virginia (presently in Phoenix), where he grew up listening to and performing pop and R&B music.  One of the key players behind the up and comer is Kyle West, who is known for his work with Al B. Sure! and many other popular artists.

From the outside looking in, who is Benjamin Reynolds?

From the outside looking in, I’m just like everyone else. I’m trying to make my mark in this world with the talents God has blessed me with. I enjoy the little things in life and love spending time with my friends and family. I’m imperfect just like everyone else, I just try to focus on the positive and help people around me do the same.

What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?

I’ve just always had a love for music. I grew up around singers my whole life and people who have been in the music industry so it just kind of rubbed off on me after a while. About 9th grade was when I started to find a passion for music and when I first started my artist development.

What do you want people to get from your music?

I want people to be able to have music that they can listen to no matter what kind of mood they are in. I want my music to be an escape for people. I want them to feel like they are not alone and that someone is out there who’s trying to figure out life to and that I go through ups and downs too just like everyone else

Tell us about your current project.

Currently, I just made my official launch as an artist with a group called Kollective Recordz. Kollective is made up by prominent producer Kyle West (Al B. Sure!, 702, Tevin Campbell, Johnny Gill fame),  along with Dre Hendrix, Leo Blaze, DJ Shy and Rob Anderson.

We just released my first single “Slide.” It’s kind of a throwback funk dance type track. It’s been super fun working with Kollective on this project so far. They are all super talented writers and producers.

Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…

Outside of music, I love doing outdoor activities. I grew up in the Appalachian Mountains so I try to hike and camp as much as I can. I also really enjoy going boating on the lake and skateboarding, too. I think one of my favorite things to do outside of music is working out. The past couple of years I’ve gotten into Crossfit. It’s a new sport which tests your fitness levels in all capacities whether it’s running, weight training, swimming, etc. I love pushing myself to new heights and finding new limits to push past.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” aka WTF?! moment…

For me, my craziest moment was when I was taking a voice lesson out of Brett Manning studios in Nashville. Brett Manning is a world-renowned vocals coach, He’s worked with, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, and many more. During one of my lessons when I was practicing a song for an audition I had, he poked his head in and said that I had one of the coolest voices he’s heard in a long time. It blew me away from considering how many big-time singers he’s worked with. After he left my voice teacher told me that he does that maybe once a month. It was a pretty dope experience!
