OnajiDox – Answer Me
New Hip Hop duo flexes sweet and sour sound withÂ
new singles âAnswer Me and âDouble DoubleâÂ
The Japanese word for âsameâ is Onaji. But sometimes things that are the same are also equally different. Itâs a paradox. Combine the two together and you have Onajidox, one of the hottest Hip Hop duos to hit the global market this year. Consisting of Heartbreak Aris and Tony Rozaye, Onajidox combines soulful melodies with hardcore Rap for a truly original sound. Their breakout single âAnswer Meâ went viral on YouTube, and now theyâre ready to follow that up with more singles and a big global push that is sure to make them international superstars. Â
âWe both like Anime and the whole Japanese culture, and weâre both the same when it comes to our love of music and the path weâre on,â Aris said. âBut we sound different. Itâs like sweet and sour. It doesnât really make sense, but it works.âÂ
Thatâs perhaps an understatement considering how many people have played the video for âAnswer Me.â Exploring the struggle of reconciling feelings for another person after a breakup, the song touches on emotions with which people all over the world can connect. Featuring a melodic flow rapping style with vocals that capture the ache of a heartbreak, the song evokes thoughts of artists such as Roddy Ricch or A Boogie or 2Chainz. It has a nice bouncy sway with some groovy 808s that support a nice, smooth flow. More than anything, itâs a track thatâs infectious and makes the listener want to hit ârepeatâ multiple times.Â
Thatâs the kind of music Onajidox wants to be known for â high quality sound with catchy lyrics and vibes that make fans want to sing along. Thatâs why they work so hard to perfect their craft. In fact, itâs that perfection that Tony said he appreciates so much about Aris. Â
âIf I send him something and he feels like it can be better, then weâre gonna keep working until we can make it better,â Tony said. âIn the studio, he helps me project my voice how I want, and if it sounds a little off, he wonât let me leave until itâs done. But thatâs what it takes to be No. 1 on the Billboards. We want to be in the same conversation as Outkast or Migos of Kriss-Kross â all those great duos of the past. We want to be in that conversation.âÂ
With âDouble Double,â the follow-up single to âAnswer Me,â Onajidox hopes to propel their unique sound and style to a much wider audience around the world. Slated to drop across all streaming platforms before the end of November, the song is, in Aris words, âlike a big flex.âÂ
âThere are a lot of people out there who have really big egos and who think theyâre more famous than they are,â Aris said. âWeâre kind of calling that out and deflating that notion for people. Itâs also another chance for us to show off how different we are and that whole sweet and sour vibe we give off. I think thatâs what sets us apart from anyone else. When you see duos, they tend to stay in the same genre. But with us, itâs completely different every time. If you want to hear hardcore rap, punchline-in-your-face type of stuff, youâve got Tony. And if you want to hear that soft, melodic sauce, youâve got me. And at the end of the day, we want to be known as one of the greatest duos to ever exist. We want it to be so undeniable that there is no GOAT conversation for anyone else.âÂ
